MMAjunkie.com confirmed the attendance and gate figures with UFC officials, and a venue representative told us it was a “great crowd for a mid-week event.”

“UFC Fight Night 21″ Fight Bonuses Awarded

Posted by 5thRound.com Staff On March - 31 - 2010

After a spectacular evening of MMA action at “UFC Fight Night 21,” company president Dana White awarded four contestants an extra $30,000 each for their special performances inside the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Ross Pearson and Dennis Siver took home Fight of the Night honors for their relentless 3Round battle. Although Siver fought valiantly, the Brit dominated the lightweight scrap from start to finish in collecting a unanimous decision victory.

Not only was Roy Nelson the largest fighter on the Spike TV broadcast, but he also posted the biggest finish of the night with his 39 second knockout of the up-and-coming Stefan Struve.

Kenny Florian looked absolutely sensational against Japanese superstar Takanori Gomi in the night’s main event. He controlled Gomi with his lightening-quick left jab for most of the first 2Rounds, however turned up the heat in the final stanza.

After eating a left, Florian slammed Gomi to the mat and sunk in a vicious rear-naked choke that forced Gomi to tap.

Fight of the Night:

Ross Pearson and Dennis Siver ($30,000/each)

Knockout of the Night:

Roy Nelson ($30,000)

Submission of the Night:

Kenny Florian ($30,000)

UFC Fight Night 21 main-card recap: Gomi no match for Florian, Nelson blasts Struve

Posted by MMAjunkie.com Staff [mmajunkie-staff] On March - 31 - 2010

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – While it could’ve been first-time octagon jitters or the noticeable adrenaline dump in the second round, Takanori Gomi likely faltered in his Ultimate Fighting Championship debut due to a much more obvious reason: Kenny Florian’s remarkable standup game.

Florian edged the former PRIDE champion and solidified his standing as the UFC’s top lightweight not named B.J. Penn with a third-round submission victory on Wednesday.

The fight capped off UFC Fight Night 21, which aired live on Spike TV from Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C., as a lead-in for the debut episode of “The Ultimate Fighter 11.”

Posted by MMAjunkie.com Staff [mmajunkie-staff] On March - 31 - 2010

UFC 115 is a go for Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Less than 24 hours after the promotion gave the city until the end of business today to resolve concerns over the legal liability of holding an event in the city, Vancouver officials have given the June 12 show the green light.

The Canadian Press first reported the event as a go-ahead. MMAjunkie.com  has since confirmed the plans with sources close to
the event.
