And while Fedor Emelianenko’s potential retirement was a central topic
in this week’s edition of “The Sunday Junkie,” our weekly
reader-feedback feature showcased a variety of opinions on the Russian’s
continued viability as a fighter.

This week’s winner, Michigan’s Chris “ClayGuidasBarber” Coburn, believes
many MMA pundits are taking the wrong approach when evaluating
Emelianenko’s place in history.



No set plans for Overeem’s vacant title, but grand-prix winner an option

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. – For now, the Strikeforce heavyweight belt will collect dust on a shelf.

Following Alistair Overeem’s release from the organization this past week, Strikeforce officials are tight-lipped about what’s next for his vacated title and have announced no formal plans.

But not surprisingly, the organization’s heavyweight grand prix could play a factor in the ultimate decision.



Woodley vs. Saffiedine likely to determine next Strikeforce welterweight champ

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. – The Strikeforce welterweight title could soon be wrapped around a new waist.

Following Nick Diaz’s recent move to the UFC and his vacating of the title, two likely title challengers emerged from Saturday’s “Strikeforce and M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Henderson” event.

Big wins from Tyron Woodley and Tarec Saffiedine likely will put their title fight in motion, according to Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker.
