Don’t Bet on Anderson Silva and BJ Penn Winning at UFC 112

To nobody’s surprise, middleweight king Anderson Silva and lightweight champion BJ Penn are heavily favored to retain their straps this Saturday at “UFC 112: Invincible.”

Penn will put his tile on the line against the gritty Frankie Edgar in the evening’s co-main event. The Hawaiian hasn’t lost a 155-pound bout in over eight years and will unquestionably go down as the best mixed martial artist to ever compete in the division.

He owns a 15-5-1 record and earned a 5thRound TKO victory at UFC 107 when he sliced Diego Sanchez’s forehead open with a vicious head kick.

Penn’s a 7-to-1 favorite, while Edgar checks-in at +450.

The planet’s deadliest 185-pounder enters the contest a 8-to-1 favorite to make his seventh consecutive title defense. Demian Maia, on the other hand, steps into the biggest fight of his career as a 5-to-1 underdog.

“The Spider” owns a dominant 25-4 professional record and is prefect through his last 11 scraps. Like Penn, he too will go down as his division’s G.O.A.T. when it’s all said and done.

Both challengers will be allotted the options of picking their poison as the champs have proven countless times they can finish fights in a multitude of ways. There’s a reason why the Betting Gods have set the lines so high. It’s so people will throw some dough on the ‘dogs just for kicks.

Unfortunately, the NCAA Tournament officially ended on Monday, so if you were hoping to find Upset City at UFC 112, you can pretty much kiss that One Shinning Moment goodbye.

Don’t forget that it’s an early start tomorrow in Abu Dhabi, with the live pay-per-view broadcast beginning at 1PM ET/10AM PT. However, a same-day replay will also be made available during the UFC’s customary 10PM ET/7PM PT time slot.
