Scott Coker: Alistair Overeem is the Guy to Beat

If you ask Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker, company golden boy Fedor Emelianenko and UFC heavyweight champs Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin have got nothin’ on Alistair Overeem.

After bumping his professional record to an impressive 33-11 by easily disposing of Brett Rogers at “Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery,” Coker believes his 265-pound champion is “the guy to beat” – provided a certain pre-fight drug screening comes back clean, of course.

Much has been made of Overeem’s immediate and extended exit from the U.S. after capturing the Strikeforce crown back in November 2007. Coker refused to give up on his controversial heavyweight during his absence and believes the waiting game paid off.

Overeem came back in an explosive way Saturday night with his 1stRound TKO, and Coker is confident it’s a sign of things to come.

Watch MMAFighting.com’s interview with Coker as he discusses Overeem, a potential bout with you know who and the unenviable task of dealing with M-1 Global – you know who’s management team that has mastered the fine art of roadblocking.
