WEC Officials Issue Statement Regarding Donald Cerrone’s Recent Comments

"In a recent radio interview, WEC fighter Donald Cerrone went too far in talking about his upcoming fight with Jamie Varner and we believe he crossed a line of decency in doing so," WEC Vice President Peter Dropick said. "We will not tolerate a fighter who makes comments that are not consistent with our company values, nor will we tolerate the use of slurs that may offend any segment of the public. We are aware Donald issued his own immediate apology on Twitter, but we still needed to speak with him about it, and to issue our own statement making our position known.”

BJ Penn and Rich Franklin have been known to recharge nightly in hyperbaric chambers during training. Miguel Torres often hunkers down in his gym for weeks on end, separating himself from distractions and steeling his spirit for battle. Donald Cerrone used to catch his shuteye in a room atop Greg Jackson’s martial arts school in New Mexico.

The many symbols and words that adorn the bantamweight’s body are the result of a unique tradition he began with his MMA debut nine years ago: After every fight, win or lose, Banuelos adds another tattoo.

Jorgensen’s Prophecy: A Title Fight with Buddy Joseph Benavidez

Frank Curreri, WEC – A few months back Scott Jorgensen and Joseph Benavidez, two buddies who compete in the same division, made a pact:
“We knew we were neck-and-neck for the next title shot and we said, “It doesn’t matter who gets it. One of us will fight Dominick (Cruz) and then we’ll fight each other for the belt.’”

Frank Curreri, WEC – 100 or more pro fights is what Bart Palaszewski is shooting for. As of today, “Bartimus” is almost halfway to the century mark. Opponent #47 is coming up on Wednesday in the form of Zack Micklewright, a scrappy U.S. Marine who trains under Pat Miletich in Iowa and who can’t believe his luck.
